Relocation incentives and retention bonuses

To help you attract and retain staff, permanent relocation payments and annual retention bonuses are available to aged care workers who accept permanent positions by approved aged care services in Modified Monash Model (MMM), MM 4-7 locations.

Permanent relocation payments

Aged care workers are eligible to receive a one-off payment of up to $16,500 to cover immediate and direct costs associated with permanently relocating to rural and remote areas within Australia.

To be eligible for this incentive payment, the employee must relocate from a metropolitan or regional area (MM 1-3) to a MM 4-7 location and work for your rural or remote aged care service for a minimum of two years. If the employee leaves the aged care service within 2 years of relocating, they will be liable to reimburse the Australian Government.

The employee may also be eligible to receive an annual retention bonus for 2 years following relocation and permanent employment with your rural or remote aged care service.

Eligible aged care workers will receive up to $3,700 (MM 4) and up to $6,000 (MM 5-7) annually for 2 years.
