Mutkin Residential and Community Care is a not-for-profit, community-controlled organisation in Yarrabah, QLD. The facility was introduced to Rural LAP by chance in April of 2023 when a member from the Department of Health shared information on Rural LAP as a recommendation to assist with staff shortages. 

After facing challenges in recruiting Registered Nurses (RNs) and Enrolled Nurses (ENs) through various forms of advertising, Mutkin needed to find an alternative solution to filling staff vacancies, which is where Rural LAP comes in. Rural LAP offered the facility a fee-free alternative to QLD agencies which were costing too much. 

Rural LAP offers high-quality, skilled locum services to aged care facilities in Australia’s rural and remote areas. They cover all costs associated with travel, accommodation, and incentives, meaning that facilities only need to cover staff wages and superannuation for periods ranging from 14 to 90 days.

The support from Rural LAP has also allowed Mutkin to maintain operational stability and continuation of care without interruption, even during periods of staffing transitions.
