Being an Aged Care Locum with Rural LAP

Kim Murphy is a proud Rural LAP locum, joining the program in 2022, sporadically fulfilling contracts while on break from working at her local hospital in Alexandra, Victoria.

With 22 years of experience as an Enrolled Nurse, Kim decided to join Rural LAP to experience more in her career, learn new skills, travel Australia and create a better work-life balance. Kim said, “I am so happy that I have a work-life balance now and can spend more time doing the things I love to do outside of work”.

Kim recently finished a placement at Riverside Lutheran Rest Home in Loxton, South Australia, saying she loves the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends with the Rural LAP nurses and the staff at her placements. Kim said, “Every shift at Loxton was cheerful, and my time there was extremely positive”.

One of the many benefits of being a locum with Rural LAP is that when you’re not working you can explore Australia’s beautiful regional and remote towns. Kim was able to experience Kayaking on the Murray River, walking and bike tracks, and enjoy different cuisines for lunch and dinner while on her placement in South Australia.

Kim’s advice for anyone considering locum work with Rural LAP is to “definitely go for it”!

Rural LAP provides the full itinerary for your placement including flights, accommodation and car hire, which means there is little to no stress in getting to your placement. We are looking for eligible health professionals to join our team of locums dedicated to ensuring continuity of quality care to rural and remote aged care services across Australia.
