Dr Katrina Sanders

Chairperson

Dr Katrina Sanders is the Chief Medical Officer, Aspen Medical and has extensive clinical and leadership experience in high-risk organisations. As former Chief Medical Officer for the Australian Federal Police and former senior medical officer in the Australian Army, Dr Sanders’ expertise includes military and first responder health, mental health, operational medicine, leadership and diversity.  Dr Sanders has experience consulting to private and government agencies on health initiatives in support of strategic objectives including the United Nations, international intelligence and law enforcement communities, and emergency services sector amongst others. Dr Sanders is widely regarded as a leader in the field of health in military and emergency services personnel and is the recipient of the Australia Day Achievement Medallion 2019 and 2021 for her contributions. Dr Sanders is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, has a Master of Public Health and is a Fellow of the Security and Health Executive Leadership Institute. She holds a number of Board positions, has authored articles directly relating to health and wellbeing, and has presented and participated in numerous keynote and panel presentations domestically and internationally.

Matt Hughes

Chief Strategy Officer

Matt Hughes is the Chief Strategy Officer – Australia, Asia and the Pacific for Aspen Medical. He is responsible for all operational, contractual and financial aspects of Aspen Medical’s large and diverse portfolio of projects across the region. Matt has many years of experience in delivering healthcare into regional and remote locations across Australia and was a Registered Nurse for over a decade. The combination of commercial, operational and clinical experience provides Matt with a unique insight into the many challenges in delivering quality healthcare.

Dr Julia Coyle

Non-Executive Director

Julia is a physiotherapist with a PhD in interprofessional practice. She is a nationally recognised equity practitioner with extensive experience as a strategic leader in Higher Education and in Health. She brings considerable expertise in health workforce, e-learning, educational technology and instructional design in addition to leading large multi-institute research in health and education. Julia’s lived experience as a resident of rural and remote communities drives her longstanding commitment to addressing the inequalities in education and health experienced by rural and remote people.
